What? INTERACTIVE MOVING PICTURE is a project that seeks to develop a moving picture activated by a passerby or participant. It aims to introduce captivating new forms of art that not only displays visual content but also invites viewers to become part of the experience. It also focuses on optimizing the design of a mechanical system that enables pictures to move within a picture frame, blending elements of 2D, 2.5D, and 3D. Additionally, this project integrates technology such as arduino microcontrollers devices and coding/programming to enhance the interactive experience for participants engaging with the moving picture.

How? The methodology behind this project involves a hands-on exhibition or user testing in a public setting. During these public interactions, empirical data such as video recordings and photographs will be captured as participants engage with the artwork. This rich visual data will provide invaluable insights into how people interact with and respond to the interactive pieces. Following the collection of this data, theoretical engagement frameworks will be employed to thoroughly analyze and interpret the interactions documented. In addition to the visual data analysis, qualitative interviews will be conducted with students specializing in user experience design. These interviews aim to delve deeper into the subjective experiences of those with a keen understanding of design principles and user interaction. By integrating both empirical data and professional insights, the project hopes to refine and enhance the interactive qualities of the artwork. This dual approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the artwork’s impact and effectiveness in engaging audiences, providing a robust foundation for further development and innovation in interactive art.

Why? INTERACTIVE MOVING PICTURE presents an intriguing concept with the potential to evolve into a new form of art or object that offers an interactive and engaging experience. This feature could provide enjoyment and entertainment both in private homes and public spaces, inviting people to interact with art in a playful and immersive way. Today, our homes are commonly decorated with static images—whether they be family photos, pet portraits, or artistic pieces—framed and hung on walls. In addition to these, some households might also utilize digital devices like the Google Nest Hub, which offer a more dynamic visual experience through videos or slideshows. Despite these advancements, the concept of an interactive moving picture that actively engages its viewers in a playful and enjoyable interaction remains a largely unexplored novelty.
