WHAT
PanOp is an app that will monitor the applications who collect behavioral data, and provide the user with us ful pieces of information that will allow understanding the correlation between his online behavior and the contents suggested by the various platforms, enhancing the awareness on the topic. It will also allow easy access to different kinds of materials to keep up with the latest developments in the field.
HOW
The project, designed applying User Experience Design and Behavioral Design theories and methods, will make use of heuristics such as Framing and Priming, as well as techniques such as the Cue/Action / Reward Model, Optimal Challenge, and Optimal Information Flow in order to engage with the user and allow the formation of long- term behaviors. Operating on mobile devices, the Pan Op can reach the widest possible audience, as they are more diffused than computers.
WHY
Behavioral Tracking (collecting user’s behavioral data to provide them with content especially tailored for them) happens all around us, and it can be used from those who can access these pieces of information to influence our decisions. Becoming aware of when, how and why it happens can allow us to reclaim our freedom of choice, and spark conversations on how to fix this issue at a systemic level.
